Jubilee Symposium, 14th and 15th September 2011
The scientific highlight of the festivities surrounding the 40 years Anniversary of the Biozentrum is the Biozentrum Symposium. For this occasion, prestigious, leading scientists from around the world will meet at the Congress Center in Basel on the 14th and 15th September, 2011, to report on the newest developments in their areas of research. Among the renowned speakers are four Nobel Prize Laureates.
At the two-day scientific symposium, 27 internationally renowned speakers will talk about the latest developments in the field of molecular biology. Among them are four Nobel Prize Winners: Peter Agre (Johns Hopkins University), Paul Nurse (Rockefeller University), Phillip A. Sharp (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Eric F. Wieschaus (Princeton University).
The first day features well-known Biozentrum Alumni/Alumnae who are today top-class researchers and professors at partner institutes in Basel and different universities in Switzerland and abroad. The second day focuses on contemporary research themes at the Biozentrum, presented by a selection of professors of the Biozentrum and external experts from all over the world.
Key note lectures will be presented by the British biochemist Paul Nurse, the US molecular biologist Phillip A. Sharp, and Bruce Alberts, author and renowned US biochemist (University of California). The symposium will take place at the Congress Centre Basel, on 14th and 15th September 2011.
