Overview

Computers are used widely at the Biozentrum and in all departments of the University of Basel. BioPhIT supports all users in the Biozentrum and Pharmazentrum in every aspect of hardware and software and in dealing with different IT resources.

These days there are very few workplaces without computers. They are being used everywhere, whether for research, administration or technical services. BioPhIT offers support to all groups in the Biozentrum and Pharmazentrum in the acquisition, installation and maintenance of computers, printers and accessory appliances. We offer a broad range of services, professional advice and competent support for all IT fields. We focus particularly on a standardized software/hardware environment.

BioPhIT services
We offer our colleagues the following services:

• Central hardware purchasing with our KUSTOS promotion. Twice a year, in the spring and the fall, our department makes a central collective purchase for the whole Biozentrum and Pharmazentrum.

• Installation, configuration, maintenance, and management of computer workstations.

• Advice on all aspects of IT and its uses for everyone working at the Biozentrum and Pharmazentrum.

• Specific support from our helpdesk http://support.biophit.unibas.ch/

• Newcomers are given an introductory course on our computer system at the outset and then as much support as they need to use the equipment.

• We are the contact point for IT problems of any type and respond promptly and competently to provide rapid and satisfactory solutions.
