The Biozentrum of the University of Basel in Switzerland is looking to sponsor applicants for Eccellenza Professorial Fellowships from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Eccellenza Fellows will be appointed as non-tenure track Assistant Professors at the University of Basel. All candidates exploring fundamental questions in modern biology will be considered, ranging from the physics of life to the dynamics of multicellular systems.
You will have an outstanding research record and strong communication skills, will complement and enhance the research portfolio of the Biozentrum as well as the broader Basel Life Sciences Community, and will contribute to teaching. Per Eccellenza requirements, you have at least two years of research activity at a Swiss Research Centre, or Swiss nationality, or a Swiss higher education degree. We will sponsor your application for a SNF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship. Eccellenza covers your salary and provides project funds of up to 1,000,000 Swiss francs for a five-year period. To complement this independent external funding, we will provide laboratory facilities, administrative support, a research endowment, and state-of-the-art core facilities. The Biozentrum consists of 30 research groups and 250 postdoctoral fellows and graduate students from more than 50 countries researching in fields ranging from structural, computational, cellular and developmental biology to microbiology and neuroscience.
