Interested in joining the Drescher group?

Our research group focuses on understanding bacterial multicellular development and functions. We use methods from physics, molecular biology, computer science and data analysis. As model systems for bacterial multicellular development, we use biofilms and the interactions of biofilms with mammalian hosts. To get an overview of recently completed projects, take a look at the curated publications page.

Postdocs and PhD students

We are often looking for scientists to join our lab with the following background:

  • Postdoc or PhD student with experience in RNA work.
  • Postdoc or PhD student with background in metabolism.
  • Postdoc or PhD student with background in biochemistry.
  • Postdoc or PhD student with background in bioinformatics.
  • Postdoc or PhD student with background in physics/biophysics.

The exact projects are flexible and will be developed together with Knut, depending on the strengths and interests of the postdoc/PhD student. To apply for these positions, please contact Knut Drescher, and include a motivation letter, CV, and names and contact details of 2-3 references.

Bachelor and Master students

We have a range of interesting projects for Bachelor and Master students in physics, biology, engineering, bioinformatics, and computational sciences. The projects will focus on understanding bacterial biofilm formation and interfering with biofilm formation, or bacterial swarming. If you are interested in working in the lab, send Knut Drescher an e-mail.

Summer internships

Our lab regularly hosts undergraduate students for summer internships for 8 weeks or more. If you are interested in an internship in the lab, send Knut Drescher an e-mail and include a motivation letter and your CV.
