The Jenal Lab at the Biozentrum is seeking a highly motivated and skilled laboratory technician with expertise in cell cultures to join our team. We offer a full-time position with exciting opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge research in lung infections and antibiotic discovery.
The Jenal Lab investigates bacterial lung infections with state-of-the-art human organoid models, coupling tissue characterization to drug testing and infection assays supported by advanced microscopy and molecular microbiology.
Main Responsibilities
- Human lung organoid culture (50 %) – Maintain and quality-control air–liquid interface/Transwell cultures of human lung organoids; manage passage schedule.
- PK/PD experimentation (40 %) – Perform established in-vitro Pharmacokinetic / Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) assays (time-kill curves, MIC/MBC), prepare datasets for modelling, and draft figures/reports.
- Laboratory coordination (10 %) – Oversee consumable inventory and equipment maintenance for the cell-culture facility.
Your profile
- Education: Degree in biology (Bachelor/Master) or training as a lab assistant/technician.
- Experience: At least 1-year hands-on experience with mammalian cell cultures. Experience in microbiology, pharmacology, or molecular biology is of advantage. Expertise in stem cells/organoids is a plus.
- Skills: Highly organized, reliable, flexible, and eager to learn new techniques. Good team-player with the ability to work independently. Strong enthusiasm for biological research is essential.
- Language: Fluency in written and spoken English is expected.
