Postdoctoral Positions in Mechanobiology and Nuclear Transport
The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the leading institutes worldwide for molecular and biomedical basic research and teaching. It is home to more than 30 research groups with scientists from over 40 countries. Research at the Biozentrum focuses on the areas of Cell Growth & Development, Infection Biology, Neurobiology, Structural Biology & Biophysics and Computational & Systems Biology. With its more than 500 employees, the Biozentrum is the largest department at the University of Basel’s Faculty of Science.
The Lim Lab is looking to recruit highly motivated postdoctoral scientists to study the crosstalk between mechanotransduction and nucleocytoplasmic transport in multicellular systems.
For an overview of our research, cf. Nat. Nanotechnol. 7 757 (2012), Biophys. J. 106 1751 (2014), Nat. Nanotechnol. 11 719 (2016), J. Cell Biol. 216 3609 (2017) and EMBO J. e98576 (2018). For more information, visit www.biozentrum.unibas.ch/lim.
Our group is embedded in the focal area “Structural Biology & Biophysics”, which offers a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary research and collaboration with other labs at the Biozentrum. Excellent in-house facilities for electron microscopy, proteomics, imaging, biophysics, and large-scale computing support research and training.
We are looking for enthusiastic scientists who share our desire to solve challenging problems in biology. Postdoc candidates should have obtained their PhD recently or expect to complete their PhD soon. You are expected to have demonstrated scientific excellence with at least one strong published or upcoming first author paper.
Ideal candidates should have a background in either cell mechanics, cell signaling or nucleocytoplasmic transport. Experience in atomic force microscopy, confocal microscopy, or omics-based approaches is a plus.
The Lim Lab is a highly motivated and collaborative team with state-of-the-art facilities for all aspects of modern cell biology and biophysics. We are dedicated to excellence in research & education and provide outstanding training and career development support for Postdocs; salary and benefits are attractive.
