Biozentrum Research Summer

The Biozentrum offers undergraduate students from across Europe a unique opportunity to immerse in real-life science projects. During the “Biozentrum Research Summer” you will spend seven to nine weeks in a research group to perform original research and participate in an inspiring scientific and social program. The internship is open to undergraduate students in Biology, Nanosciences, Chemistry, Physics, Computational Sciences and related sciences.

Do you want to experience what it means to be a scientist? Are you eager to put your classroom learning into practice and be part of a real lab community? If your answers are “yes”, join us for the Biozentrum Research Summer – an internship program for undergraduate students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree. You will have the opportunity to make great discoveries and experience what scientific research is all about. The Biozentrum Research Summer internship is designed for enthusiastic Bachelor students in Biology, Nanosciences, Chemistry, Physics, Computational Sciences and related sciences. It is ideally suited for students at the end of their second year, providing a hands-on research experience at an early career stage.

You will be a member of one of the research groups or of a team of an Ambizione Fellow or an Independent Researcher at the Biozentrum, working on a cutting-edge research project under the direct guidance of an experienced scientist. Your research will be in fields ranging from structural, computational and cellular biology to developmental biology, microbiology and neurobiology. You will develop skills in scientific reasoning, documentation and presentation and become familiar with diverse questions in the life sciences and different laboratory methods.

Length and timing
The program is a full-time immersion (5 days a week) for a duration of seven to nine weeks between mid-July to mid-September. The starting date and precise duration of the internship can be adjusted upon mutual agreement between the host lab and the student, within the nine-week timeframe (weeks 28 to 36).

Scientific and social program
Get-togethers with Biozentrum group leaders and other scientists will complement your lab research. You will socialize with other participants and Biozentrum researchers and enjoy the communal spirit of the Biozentrum. Program 2023
