Postdoctoral Researcher in Immune cell homeostasis and activation

Starting 1 January 2021 or upon mutual agreement

The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the leading Life Sciences Institutes in the world. It accommodates 30 research groups and 500 employees investigating how molecules and cells create life, spanning the scale from atom to organism. Founded in 1971, the Biozentrum has been the birthplace of many fundamental discoveries in biology and medicine, spawning several Nobel Laureates.

A postdoctoral position is available from January 2021 onwards in the group of Prof. Jean Pieters at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel. Our laboratory is investigating the cellular processes that are involved in the body’s immune responses towards pathogenic stimuli (see e.g. PMID: 18345003, 23765056 and 30611611). One important branch of immunity is regulated by T cells, that not only play a key role in controlling infections but also in auto- and alloimmune responses, and a major aim of the project will be to unravel the biochemical and molecular mechanisms involved in T cell activation and homeostasis.

Your responsibilities
To study the processes involved in immune cell homeostasis and activation using a combination of innovative in vitro and in vivo approaches.

Your profile
The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology, cell biology and molecular biology and ideally be familiar with both in vitro and in vivo techniques. Furthermore, the candidate should exhibit team spirit, be highly motivated, self-driven and creative.

We offer
Our group consists of a dynamic group of scientists with experience spanning from basic biochemistry and cell biology to in vivo modeling of disease. We collaborate with our excellent and state-of-the-art core facilities.

Application / Contact
Please apply online: https://biped2.biozentrum.unibas.ch/apply/postdoctoral-researcher-in-immune-cell-homeostasis-and-activation

Applications should include a motivation letter that includes a statement of research interests, your CV, and three recommendation letters.

We start reviewing applications from October 1, 2020, until the position is filled. In all cases, you will be notified of the outcome of your application.

Please note that only online applications will be accepted.
