1971 - 1995 | Professor of Structural Biology

In 1971, Richard M. Franklin (*1930, † 2020) was appointed to the Biozentrum as one of its first professors. It was here that he began to concentrate on the field of structural biology, investigating the structure of membranes, in particular those which envelope viruses.
