Prof. Dr. Charles Thompson

Charles J. Thompson studied at the Washington and Lee University and earned his doctorate at the Pennsylvania State University in 1976. Afterwards he carried out postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin. In 1981 Charles Thompson moved to the John Innes Institute, UK, and in 1993 he was appointed to the Biozentrum of the University of Basel, where he served as Professor of Microbiology until 2004. In 2004 Thompson left for the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia, Canada, where he conducts research in the field of infectious diseases, in particular TB.
