Prof. Dr. Sonja Hofer

Sonja Hofer studied biology at the Technical University of Munich. She received her PhD in 2006 at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in Martinsried. After completing her postdoctoral studies at University College London in 2011, she started her own group at UCL. In 2013, Hofer was appointed Assistant Professor in Neuroscience at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, and in 2018, she returned to London as a group leader at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour. In her work, she explores the transmission and processing of visual stimuli in the brain and how learning and experiences change neuronal networks. Website
