Speaker: Prof. Dr. Sonja Schmid

Sonja Schmid did her undergrad in Nanosciences at the University of Basel before joining Thorsten Hugel’s lab for a doctorate on single-molecule FRET and chaperone dynamics at TU Munich. After a postdoc in Cees Dekker's lab on protein sensing using nanopores at TU Delft, she started her independent career at Wageningen University, in 2021, and later accepted an offer from the University of Basel to join the Chemistry Dept. in January 2024. Schmid received the 2024 Young Fluorescence Investigator Award by the BPS Fluorescence subgroup and several Dutch & Swiss grants.
