Master's Exam
The master's examination is an oral exam lasting 60 min. It comprises the topic of the master's thesis, the specialist literature on the master's thesis and the subject area associated with the master's thesis.
Before the exam:
- You find a date for the exam in coordination with the examiners.
- You register the exam at the studies secretariat Physics of Life using the form "Registration for the Master’s Exam in Physics of Life" (to follow).
- You submit your written report on the master's thesis to your assessors at least four weeks before the oral examination.
- You submit the form “Expert Opinion on Master's Thesis Physics of Life” (“Gutachten zu Masterarbeiten in Physics of Life”) (to follow) to the assessors, together with the written report.
The exam:
- The examiners during the master's examination are the lecturers who supervised and graded the master's thesis.
- The master's examination is graded jointly by the examiners.
- Bring the “Assessment Master's Examination” form (Bewertung Masterprüfung) with you to the exam (Download: https://philnat.unibas.ch/de/studium/master).
- Take along the document “Learning Contract for Master’s Thesis” (you filled in part I at the start of your master project)
After the exam:
Bring these documents to the studies secretariat Physics of Life
- Learning Contract for Master’s Thesis (Studienvertrag für Masterarbeit), Part I und Part II filled in and signed.
- Assessment Master’s Examination (Bewertung Masterprüfung), filled in and signed.
- Expert Opinion on Master’s Thesis Physics of Life (Gutachten zu Masterarbeiten in Physics of Life), filled in and signed.
- Copy of the title page of your master's thesis.
- A printed and an electronic PDF version of your master's thesis.
